Our Alternative Medicine
Techniques
Acupuncture Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique that understands and
describes the patterns of energy that flow throughout a system of
meridians in our body. This procedure involves the insertion of
very fine needles into the body at specified points. These points
have been studied over a period of 2,000 years and have been proven
as an effective method of treatment. Acupuncture is usually
pain-free. Occasionally the patient may feel a slight stinging or
distending sensation. Generally, needles are left in place for 15
to 20 minutes. |

Moxibustion (Heat) Heat is a common remedy in most societies where it is applied to improve blood circulation. Heat might be prescribed in a variety ways, the most common being Moxibustion. "Moxa" is made from the dried mugwort herb. Rolled and lit ("bustion"), it can be applied either to the handle of the needle or rotated gently over the skin to apply heat. |

Herbal
Medicine Herbal medicines are targeted to the specified needs of each
patient and can be delivered in the form of teas, powders and
tablets. Herbal medicinal plants have been used by all societies
throughout history. Herbal medicine consists mainly of plans,
minerals and herbs including roots, barks, flowers and other
natural materials that contain minerals, which help the body's, own
natural healing processes. They are pure and natural and contain no
synthetic chemicals. Thus, there are few side effects. Each formula
(prescription) is especially tailored to match each patient's
specific symptoms. |
